CaLby2030 – Calcium Looping to capture CO2 from industrial processes by 2030

In CaLby2030, the deployment of Calcium Looping technology (CaL) using Circulating Fluidised Bed reactors (CFB) in the cement industry will be investigated, aiming at efficient CO₂-Capture without compromising clinker production or product quality. A technology scale-up will be also evaluated in a German cement plant by exploring different retrofit possibilities. Besides the cement sector, the deployment of CFB-CaL technology in other relevant sectors will also be investigated.

The 9ᵗʰ International VDZ Congress took place in Düsseldorf on 6 – 8 November 2024. The VDZ Congress is the international scientific forum for the cement industry and its suppliers. Delegates from all over the world discuss the latest developments concerning the transformation of the industry on its way towards climate neutrality.

Evolving the well-established

The 9th International VDZ Congress is just around the corner: From 6 to 8 November 2024 - for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic - the VDZ Congress will provide a forum for global exchange in the cement industry. The focus in 2024 will be on key topics in cement process technology and the decarbonisation of the entire cement and concrete value chain. In the following interview, Dr Martin Schneider, Chief Executive of VDZ, explains what the biggest challenges and bright spots in the industry are at the moment, what contribution VDZ‘s CO₂ Roadmap will make to climate neutrality in the industry, and what key topics participants can look forward to at the 9th International VDZ Congress.
