VDZ´s shareholdings

The InformationsZentrum Beton (concrete information centre, IZB) was founded by the German cement industry back in 1972. The aim was to use a comprehensive platform to cover the need for information on cement-bound building materials from a single source. IZB develops and coordinates industry-related specialist information on planning and use of concrete, focusing on architecture, concrete technology and support for up-and-coming talent. This is one way in which the industry meets is responsibility to the built environment and strengthens awareness of quality.

Normensand GmbH was founded in 1954 by 23 cement works in Beckum, Westphalia. Its main area of activity is the manufacture of "test sands". These are prepared sands with certain levels of coarseness and mineralogical composition that are used to monitor and quality-test cements and other binding agents. Normensand GmbH supplies to manufacturers, institutes and test laboratories in over 70 countries. As one of the largest purchasers of test stands in Germany, VDZ acquired the majority of shares in Normensand GmbH in 2013.
