Background and aims of the project
In sectors of the basic materials industry, such as steel and iron production, or the cement industry, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is a major challenge. These emissions should be significantly reduced in the future with the help of innovative technologies and processes. The funding measure "Avoidance of climate-relevant process emissions in industry (KlimPro-Industrie)" supports projects that enable the German primary industry to develop processes and process combinations that avoid greenhouse gases and to transfer them into practice in the medium to long term. The networking and transfer project ReInvent aims to provide technical and organisational support for the BMBF funding measure KlimPro-Industrie in order to generate synergies between the funded projects and achieve faster market entry for the technologies developed. In the ReInvent project, the VDZ is working in particular on the subproject "Development of a methodology for cross-project and ecological potential assessment". The aim here is to bring together the greenhouse gas reduction potentials of different sectors and industries determined within the framework of the BMBF funding measure KlimPro-Industrie in a comparable form. The aim is to develop and document a procedure that makes it possible to
- clearly allocate avoided CO2 emissions,
- to avoid multiple counting of savings potentials, and
- ensure comparability of the reduction potentials determined by different industries.
